Thinking & Practice Tutorial 21/10/13

The other tutorial we had in this session today was about layers in Illustrator. The idea of this task was to apply colour to the image but using Illustrator rather than Photoshop. I imported a jpeg file into Illustrator and locked the layer. The layout of Illustrator is very similar to Photoshop, so I set the layer transparency to multiply and locked the layer. Using the pen tool, (setting it to 5pt) I outlined the image in red. The pen tool is also very similar to that in Photoshop.

Once outlined the layer that was drawn onto was then duplicated and renamed ‘outline’ and the original ‘star’. The colour of the sky and background were added in two additional layers and sent to the back so the original sketch was no longer visible.
